LCU 2000 Technical Writers

​AERMOR LLC is looking for LCU 2000 Technical Writers for the Army LCU 2000 Service Life Extension Plan (SLEP) On-Condition Cyclical Maintenance (OCCM) effort. The candidates will work on a project team to develop the necessary reference material to properly maintain, supply, and troubleshoot the LCU 2000 SLEP, supporting the Army directed modernization effort for the LCU 2000. The effort also includes logistics products, contractor support for Government testing, training, and the development and delivery of a SLEP Repower Modification Technical Data Package (TDP). The Candidate will support the Team in the successful execution of these efforts. The Technical Writers will assist the AERMOR Team's leadership in the overall management and execution of all contract requirements and be counted on to ensure effective and efficient communication is maintained both within the AERMOR Team and with the Army customers.

 

Multiple Positions Available

LOCATION: Norfolk, VA


Responsibilities:

Development of technical manuals and work packages for field and sustainment maintenance, operator and crew preventive maintenance checks and services, and troubleshooting; Develop special lists and maintenance allocation chart work packages.  Develop, refine and verify basic issue items (BII) lists, components of end item (COEI) lists, on-board spares lists (OBSL), and repair parts and special tools list (RPSTL).  Conduct quality control of the content, and validation of lists and procedures. Conduct boat checks on watercraft in industrial areas or in the water.


Experience:

  • Experienced Army, Navy, Coast Guard or other maritime maintainer
  • Three years’ experience writing and editing Army TMs
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings for Army Watercraft
  • Ability to determine illustrations needed for publication and to develop rough sketches to assist the illustrator
  • Substantial, verifiable experience in Army watercraft maintenance and training may be substituted for the technical writing experience  
  • Experience in an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with Military Documentation Standards (MILSTDS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office product suite
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen 
  • Meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government
  • Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.


Strongly Desired:

  • LCU 2000 experience
  • Experience working with Army Watercraft and knowledge of HM&E (Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Equipment) 
  • US Army logistics document development experience (TMs, LOs, supply, etc) 
  • Doctrine development experience 


Education:

  • Associate's degree | May be substituted with applicable work experience
